£1.50 Locality: Runnymede is a National Trust site set in an attractive area of grassland, riverside meadows and woodland with a network of pleasant footpaths. On this site King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215, commemorated by the Magna Carta Memorial. The John F Kennedy Memorial, given by the people of Britain to the USA, honouring the memory of the assassinated President, is also located within the meadow. The Air Forces Memorial, at the top of the hill, commemorates by name over 20,000 airmen and women who were lost in the Second World War during operations from bases in the United Kingdom and North and Western Europe, and who have no known graves. Tea-rooms, riverside walks and boat trips from the Runnymede Boat Yard. Fishing available. Cycling is permitted on the Thames Path nearby. London is 20 miles away and Chertsey is only 2 miles where there is a Sainsbury's supermarket. Close to Windsor Castle, Saville Gardens and Hampton Court. Shopping in Windsor, Egham and Staines.
