Directions: From the National, the motorway route is to head south on the M50 and M5. At
Junction 15, take the M4 west and then shortly the M48 over the old Severn Bridge (toll payable) to
Junction 2. Turn right onto A466, signed Chepstow, then at Highbeech roundabout turn left onto A48
signed Caerwent. In 2 miles, at Parkwall roundabout, turn left onto B4245 signed Caldicot. In 1½
miles, turn right into unclassified road and follow rally signs to make sure you use the correct
entrance.
GRASS FIELDLocality: Chepstow is an historic walled border town and ancient port overlooked by a Norman Castle. Chepstow commands the entrance to the Lower Wye Valley - an area of outstanding natural beauty. Not that far away are the Forest of Dean (where you might see wild boar if you're patient and quiet), the Brecon Beacons, Cardiff and Bristol, Cheltenham and Newport. Other Castles include Caldicot and Raglan, plus nearby are Tintern Abbey and Roman remains at Caerwent. Chepstow's famous local racecourse unfortunately doesn't have any fixtures while we're there, but is worth a visit. The Clearwell Caves near Coleford are a spectacular site to experience. The local steam railway is the Dean Forest at Norchard.
What's On? Our Rally Officers will provide awnings and a gazebo in which to relax after your
days out. If sufficient interest is shown, a visit will be arranged to the hidden gardens at Dewstow,
followed by a pub visit. It may be possible to use other facilities at the Events Centre, depending on
numbers interested and the cost. We shall do more if you tell us that's what you'd like.
Rally will start 1:00pm Wednesday and will finish 6:00pm Sunday. Bookings should be received by Saturday 19th May. |
