GRASS FIELD

Locality: Wash Water is just west of Newbury off the A34. Shopping in Newbury and Basingstoke. Visit the website www.oakleyfarm.co.uk for details.
Newbury was the site of two Civil War battles; the first Battle of Newbury (at Wash Common) in 1643 and the second Battle of Newbury (at Speen) in 1644. The nearby Donnington Castle was reduced to a ruin in the aftermath of the second battle.
The West Berkshire Museum in Newbury is well worth a visit and is housed in two of Newbury's most historic buildings. The Cloth Hall was built in 1626-1627 as a cloth factory and workhouse. The Corn Stores (also known as the Granary) was built circa 1725 following the opening of the River Kennet Navigation. See www.westberkshiremuseum.org.uk for more details.

What's On? John Ward is using this weekend to celebrate his 60th birthday. John and Chris will be laying on food and drink on the Saturday evening - cold meats and salads and a 'pud' - and hope you will commiserate with/congratulate John. Music might be a mixture of rock, blues and folk and any games have the potential to be very silly. Come dressed as hippies and you may win a prize!

  • Rally Officers:
  • Terry and Bettine Bly
  • John and Christine Ward

Rally will start 4:00pm Friday and will finish 6:00pm Sunday.

Bookings should be received by Monday 20th August.
